When you gaze out the windows in your home, what is the first thing that you think about? It is nice to enjoy your beautiful yard, but you might find it difficult to enjoy the view through dirty windows and blinds. Don’t worry though, because regular care of the blinds and windows can go a long way to improving your view, and make your home cleaner than ever.Tips for Cleaning the Blinds

Blinds are often overlooked during the home cleaning, resulting in a place that is collecting dust and allergens in your room. If you do it right, this cleaning chore doesn’t have to be that bad! Here are a few cleaning tips for your blinds:

Basic Blind Cleaning

Keeping up with basic care makes it easier to stay ahead of the mess. Using a duster, a soft cloth, or an old sock, move your fingers over the surface of each slat on the blinds.

Deep Cleaning the Blinds

If your blinds haven’t been cleaned in a while, then it might be time to clean them deeply. A simple wipe-down won’t be enough to get rid of the built-up dust, dirt, and grime. The cleaning method depends on the types of blinds that are in your home because certain types of blinds can’t handle a lot of water.

For example, if you have wood blinds, then they can be damp… but you never should get them wet. The excess moisture can cause the blinds to warp, and the wood will become discolored. So, talk with a cleaning expert to determine the right method to clean the types of blinds that are in your home.

The easiest deep cleaning method is first to get rid of the dust with a vacuum hose attachment. Then, use warm water and a little bit of cleaning detergent. Carefully clean each slat one at a time with a soft rag.

Tip: Rubber band a soft cloth to each end of a pair of kitchen tongs. This will save you time in cleaning the front & backside of each slat at once.
